Day 1: Welcome to Christchurch
Upon arrival Christchurch Airport you’ll be transferred to your hotel.This evening you will meet your Tour Director and fellow travellers for a welcome reception and dinner.

Day 2: Christchurch – Omarama
Today you will travel through McKenzie country visiting the Church of the Good Shepherd at Lake Tekapo and enjoy the alpine scenery of Mount Cook National Park before arriving at your overnight accommodation

Day 3: Omarama – Dunedin
Today you leave the centre of the South Island and make your way to Oamaru famous for its white limestone buildings before making your way to Dunedin where a visit to Larnach Castle and a city tour is provided.

Day 4: Dunedin – Milford Sound
Today you once more head into the centre of the South Island for what will be a day of spectacular scenery as you journey through Te Anau and into the World Heritage Fiordland National Park, New Zealand’s largest. Rainforest, ancient glaciers and other highlights are presented as you drive through the Homer Tunnel, before arriving in Milford Sound for your overnight cruise on the Milford Mariner. (Milford Mariner does not operate 17 May-19 September. During this period there will be a day cruise on Milford Sound and accommodation in Te Anau).

Day 5: Milford Sound – Queenstown
This morning you will rejoin the coach as you make the journey back to Te Anau. You’ll explore the Te Anau Glow Worm Caves by boat with local guide, before travelling to Queenstown.

Day 6: Queenstown ‘Free Time’
A full day to see the sights of your choice. Take it easy with a wine tour or walk on the wild side with a jet boat ride or white water rafting (all own expense). Whatever you choose, Queenstown will surprise and exhilarate. B
Day 7: Queenstown ‘Free Time’
A day of leisure. Tonight you will enjoy a Skyline Gondola & buffet dinner as you take in the lights of Queenstown. B HD
Day 8: Queenstown – Franz Josef
The journey today will take you through Arrowtown, Cromwell and the lakes of Dunstan, Hawea & Wanaka. Travelling over the Haast Pass you will view amazing Thunder Creek Falls before arriving onto the West Coast. Passing Fox Glacier the biggest of the West Coast Glaciers you will make your way to Franz Josef Glacier for your overnight accommodation.

Day 9: Franz Josef – Punakaiki
Optional trips are available to experience the grandeur of the Glacier. Leaving Franz Josef you will travel via Hokitika renowned for jade before making your way to Punakaiki.

Day 10: Punakaiki – Nelson
Your journey continues along the Heritage Highway through the Buller Gorge and the Kahurangi National Park before arriving in Nelson. During the afternoon you’ll visit the World of Wearable Arts and Collectable Cars.

Day 11: Nelson ‘Free Time’
On this day at leisure, you’ll have the option to journey to the top of the South Island and enjoy a relaxing cruise in the Abel Tasman National Park. Or perhaps take a short bush walk, relax in sunny Nelson or explore the many arts and craft shops. B
Day 12: Nelson – Wellington
Today you will travel to Wellington, New Zealand’s capital via the seaside town of Picton. Before joining the Interislander Ferry across the Cook Strait to Wellington, New Zealand’s capital you will enjoy a cruise on the Queen Charlotte Sound. Upon arrival Wellington you will enjoy a visit to Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand, where you’ll explore New Zealand’s nature, art, history and cultural heritage.

Day 13: Wellington ‘Free Time’

Day 14: Wellington – Napier
Leaving Wellington you travel through the dairy farming land of Manawatu to Napier. Upon arrival at Napier the Art Deco capital of New Zealand you will join a city walking tour with a local guide and learn how Napier was rebuilt after a devastating Earthquake in 1931.

Day 15: Napier – Rotorua
Your journey today will take you via Lake Taupo, the largest lake in New Zealand and you will visit the mighty Huka Falls before making your way into the thermal capital of New Zealand, Rotorua where on arrival a sightseeing tour takes in views of Lake Rotorua. This evening you will enjoy a traditional Maori Hangi feast ‘highlight dinner’ and concert at the Tamaki Family Marae.

Day 16: Rotorua
A visit to Te Puia, the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute will provide an insight into the Maori tradition of wood carving & weaving and together with a tour of the geothermal valley you will appreciate the importance of the geysers & mud pools to the traditional owners of New Zealand. B
Day 17: Rotorua – Auckland
Before leaving Rotorua you will visit the Agrodome Sheep Show which provides an insight into agricultural life in New Zealand. A visit to the farming community of Matamata will provide a farming demonstration before a delicious lunch at Longlands Farm. Continue to Auckland where your city sightseeing tour awaits highlighting the sights of the Auckland the largest city of New Zealand.
